The New Entry\/Exit System (EES) for Travelling to France in Winter 2025<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If you\u2019re planning to visit France<\/strong> this winter, it\u2019s important to be aware of the new Entry\/Exit System (EES)<\/strong> that will affect how you enter the country. Starting October 12, 2025<\/strong>, the EES<\/strong> will replace the current passport stamping process, and will impact all travellers from non-EU countries<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s everything you need to know about how this system works and how it might affect your trip to France.<\/p>\n

What is the Entry\/Exit System (EES)?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Entry\/Exit System (EES)<\/strong> is a new digital border control<\/strong> system being introduced across the Schengen Area<\/strong>. This includes France, along with 26 other European countries. The system is designed to improve border security and simplify the process for collecting traveller information when entering and leaving the Schengen Area.<\/p>\n

Currently, when non-EU nationals arrive in the Schengen Area, their passports are manually stamped. With the introduction of the EES<\/strong>, biometric data<\/strong> (such as fingerprints<\/strong> and a photo<\/strong>) will be collected at the border instead.<\/p>\n

How Will the EES Affect You?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

As a traveller to France<\/strong> or other Schengen Area countries<\/strong>, here\u2019s what you can expect when the system rolls out in October 2025<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

              Note that Ireland<\/strong> and Cyprus<\/strong> are not part of the Schengen Area, so this system will not apply when travelling to these countries.<\/p>\n

              Who Will Be Affected by EES?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

              The EES<\/strong> will primarily impact non-EU nationals<\/strong> who are travelling to the Schengen Area<\/strong>. This includes:<\/p>\n

                UK nationals<\/strong> (after Brexit)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                US citizens<\/strong> and other third-country nationals<\/strong> who are not citizens of the European Union or European Economic Area.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                As a non-EU citizen<\/strong>, you will need to undergo the biometric check when entering France<\/strong> and other Schengen countries. This applies to tourists<\/strong>, business travellers<\/strong>, and other short-term visitors<\/strong> who are staying for less than 90 days<\/strong> within a 180-day period<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
