THINGS TO DO IN AND AROUND LA TANIA
Ski holidays aren’t just about action and adrenaline. If you need a slower pace to your day, you don’t even have to leave the chalet! Likewise, if you have to spend some time catching up on emails, then you could do worse than set yourself up with a suitably impressive view and use the free WiFi, helping yourself to tea and coffee.
Take a long soak in the chalet hot tub, book a treatment with Massage Me who will visit the chalet with their indulgent products and qualified therapist.
ADVENTURE AND EXCITEMENT
The mountains are a huge adventure playground for those who love the rush of adrenalin. At Ski-Dazzle we can help you to organise anything from heli-drop skiing, tandem paragliding, dog sledding, sky diving or a more serene hot air balloon trip. Away from the slopes, you can also ice skate, go bowling or visit Courchevel’s fabulous homage to watery fun, the Aquamotion centre, which has slides, fountains and bubbles galore, as well as a wakeboarding pool.
EXPLORE ON FOOT
There are many winding paths in La Tania’s surrounding woods, and exploring on foot makes you feel like you’re in a winter wonderland, with deer, hare and boar tracks leading into the forest.
With a walker’s ‘pedestrian’ lift pass and a pair of grippy, waterproof boots you can use the buses and gondolas around the Courchevel Valley to get right to the top of the mountain (La Saulire is the highest point) and enjoy the same views as those on skis. From La Tania itself, it’s easy to take a ride on the bubble lift and meet skiers in the Bouc Blanc restaurant which has lovely views and good, reasonably-priced food/snacks. It is a great place to enjoy a hot chocolate or a vin chaud at the end of the day.
SHOPPING
The weekly market in Courchevel 1850 offers a selection of local cheeses and meats, some rather expensive (but very tempting!) sweets and treats and reasonably priced ski/winter clothing.
Whilst in 1850 you can wander around, window-shopping in the designer boutiques and enjoy some people watching whilst sipping a vin chaud in one of the slopeside cafes.
SNOWSHOEING
An increasingly popular way to explore the area, if you fancy strapping on some snowshoes ‘raquettes’, we can organise a guide to take you for a walk through the La Tania forest or beyond into the Vanoise National Park. If you are lucky you may spot one of the beautiful deer or ibex who live among trees surrounding the winding trails.
